Compare them. Use them as a starting point. Or follow the model.

You can compare these percentages with your current TSP investments or use them as a reference when considering your own mix. If you decide to follow this model, you make the account changes yourself.

  • 1. Review the fund mix

Consider whether the allocations fit your timeline, comfort with risk, and other retirement resources. A matching year alone doesn't tell you whether a model is right for you.

  • 2. Make any changes through your TSP plan

If you choose to follow the model, sign in through the official TSP website and use the published fund percentages. Check the current TSP instructions for the changes you want to make.

  • 3. Check your choices

Before submitting, confirm that your percentages total 100% and that you're changing what you intend: your existing balance, future contributions, or both.

Check back periodically

iVectors is designed for portfolio reviews once or twice a year. Current models are published monthly, but that does not mean you need to change your allocation every month.

Compare the latest percentages with your current allocation and consider whether your needs have changed. A meaningful model update may also be a reason to take another look. Reviewing doesn’t automatically mean making a change.

Same target dates. Different fund mixes.

Compare the current TSP fund allocations of iVector 2065, aVector 2065, and the TSP L 2065 Fund. Their different approaches can lead to different fund percentages, risks, and returns.

Each portfolio uses a different methodology and glide path, which results in different allocations across the TSP funds. These differences can affect risk and return.

The research behind the percentages

iVectors studies index-based target date funds from established investment companies. Selected fund families help shape the model, which uses only TSP funds.

The models run twice weekly, results are reviewed regularly, and current allocations are published monthly.
